This is a reminder to take new passport photos ✨
I wasn’t sure I would be taking passport photos today but I was with it. I definitely had this look in mind all week, and although I didn’t need an occasion it worked out for the best. Plus I just started a blog so why not lolol
These photos are actually for my cosmetology reciprocity application for Mississippi. Reciprocity is “matching” your license in your current state to another state so you don’t have to go back to school and clock 1500+ more hours, chile. I got offered a great job in Southaven, and even though it’s right down the street from Memphis I always forget the obvious: the Stateline. Today, I was overwhelmed with emotion from things not being easy and automatically going my way. Of course I was to sashay my way through my interview-turned-girl-talk and be offered a start date on the spot… and that’s my damn problem. Always expecting everything to be stress free and easy, guaranteed. Taking photos, the system kept rejecting my photo saying “my mouth was open” but eventually they were able to print, ok no problem. I decide to then head to Fed Ex printing to print my physical application (snail mail baby, we talking Mississippi State Board, no shade) just for 1) my print card to get stuck in the machine 2)the computer was so slow it ate up my funds before I could print my document 3) my OneDrive account, needed to print directly from the printers was deactivated because I hadn’t logged in in a year? I log in, and it’s asking for money to ‘upgrade’? 4) I try to use my college OneDrive account and I’m unable to log in from the printer? 5) printer eats the extra $7 I used to load on my card print? (for a total of $12 gone, no printed document in sight) 6) My Dropbox, which is another option, was also full and asked me for money to upgrade my storage? 7) I got extremely hot and wanted to knock a computer down bc I was surrounded by printers and couldn’t print anything. Technology and its bullshit right so I text my friend and ask for a favor and even though I drove across town it was worth it, for no more inconveniences. Whether the job is mine or not, the positive is I am now on my way to be licensed in two neighboring states, so now borders have been widened (no pun, just a metaphor haha) for more opportunity to come. Limiting yourself is one of the worse things you can do, alongside always and only choosing the easy routes. Another positive is that my passport photos are hot (because you know I got extra) and because of my impromptu photoshoot I was able to slay a look, skip the gym, and skip all over town and be showered with compliments. The gym is mine tomorrow though don’t even trip!
so look the moral of the story is… don’t give up I think? Yeah that’s a good one 🙂
Thank you for reading my first blog post and I look forward to growing with you 💙
